Is there a work around to get DTS-HD MA to bitstream via HDMI? ffdshow can do it, but I don't know how to tell VLC to use that instead.

Thank you.

That's more of a question for XBMC, however you could try a nightly XBMC build from here:
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/nightlies/

Then adjust the Audio output settings accordingly (see the "GUI Settings" section of the AudioEngine Wiki article linked above).

But join ther XBMC forums if you want support for XBMC.

Thank you, Arite, but my original question asked how to bitstream DTS-HD with VLC. I thought the person who suggested XBMC meant that some component of XBMC can be used with VLC to allow bitstreaming. I already have MPC-HC to bitstream DTS-HD, but I would like to use VLC.

I hope that clarifies that.

Thanks again.

yes this is what I ment that maybe buy looking at the new audio engine that xbmc is working on they may be able to reuse some of code or see how they are doing it and be able to add it to vlc

Ah OK - I was just giving you the relevant details to do it with XBMC in case you hadn't come across anything else that would do it.
