Thank you, Arite, but my original question asked how to bitstream DTS-HD with VLC. I thought the person who suggested XBMC meant that some component of XBMC can be used with VLC to allow bitstreaming. I already have MPC-HC to bitstream DTS-HD, but I would like to use VLC.That's more of a question for XBMC, however you could try a nightly XBMC build from here:

Then adjust the Audio output settings accordingly (see the "GUI Settings" section of the AudioEngine Wiki article linked above).
