I don't think anyone wants to recreate part of the list that is implemented and what is not.
Burn MP3/audio music/ISO CDs
Write CD-Text
Paranoia/secure ripping mode
Won't happen unless someone comes up with multiplatform disc burning/reading solution.
Option to use Mozilla/Gecko (or other default browser) for Browser
Where in VLC you use internet browser?

I would definitely love to see APE and MPC support.
Or maybe they are already implemented? Last time I've checked (v0.7.x or something) Musepack files were not played.

With the same (v0.9.2-preview2 ) version Musepack is supported, but only sv7. It seems, that currently only Foobar2000 supports sv8, but it too superfluous for my daily needs :).

Yep I've tried with the nightly and also RC1 build from JB. Both crash when trying to play this file on Windows XP.

Erm nope, MPlayer is using FFmpeg/libavcodec for playing Monkey's Audio .APE files and Musepack .MPC files:

Image Image

Code: Select all

ID_FILENAME=E:\Test\VLC\09 - No woman, no cry.mpc ID_DEMUXER=lavfpref ID_AUDIO_FORMAT=MPC ID_AUDIO_BITRATE=0 ID_AUDIO_RATE=44100 ID_AUDIO_NCH=2 ID_LENGTH=218.12 ID_SEEKABLE=1 ========================================================================== Opening audio decoder: [ffmpeg] FFmpeg/libavcodec audio decoders AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 0.0 kbit/0.00% (ratio: 0->176400) ID_AUDIO_BITRATE=0 ID_AUDIO_RATE=44100 ID_AUDIO_NCH=2 Selected audio codec: [ffmusepack7] afm: ffmpeg (Musepack sv7 audio codec) ========================================================================== AO: [dsound] 44100Hz 2ch s16le (2 bytes per sample) ID_AUDIO_CODEC=ffmusepack7 Video: no video Starting playback...
Current builds of VLC can actually play SV7 Musepack files but not SV8.
All APE files I've tried are crashing VLC.

Latest build (0.9.7) is capable of playing APE already.
Not MPC SV8 yet. Strange, because it seems that VLC use one and the same library as Mplayer.
Anyhow.

Windows VLC decoding features are usually little behind of other ones because contribs issues are usually more complicated on Windows.

Because SV8 is not considered as stable upstream.

Musepack SV8 is still in beta (not that should change the decision to implement it much):
http://forum.musepack.net/showthread.php?t=395
Arite.
Actually, the format is already finalized, as one can see here.
The only feature still in beta status is CT (chapter tag) and I suppose it will stay like this until there is at least one player capable of using chapter tags.
Anyhow, this is not a mandatory field for the standart, so a player could be MPC SV8 compliant even if it does not support chapter tags.
