Amino AmiNET 110 STB (Set Top Box) Stuck on Loading... scree

as you can see from the subject my AmiNET 110 STB is stuck on a screen that sais Loading... (on the TV)

i managed to login using root and root2root. i think the place where i went wrong is...it was rebooting all the time, so i killed a couple of processes until it stopped rebooting...then i rebooted it and now it's stuck on this Loading screen... I connected via telnet...when scanning my network for IPs the STB doesn't seem to have one in the local range. any suggestions?

Sounds like you tried to upgrade it and it went wrong. Are you sure it's getting a dhcp lease?

try this. build an amino serial cable (see below), connect to it with a terminal, hit ENTER when it starts and prompts to hit ENTER to leave normal operation. then type
bootos AMInet.img
and see if it works.

if this results in a functional Amino, just create a file called !poweron (with the exclamation point) in /mnt/nv (the vi editor is available) and in it put the bootos AMInet.img line in it.

be careful not to create other files, any unrecognised filenames in /mnt/nv (including things you back up) will cause the Amino to freak out again.

J7 connector on the Aminet 110:
PIN 1 (square) - VCC
PIN 2 - TX
PIN 3 - RX
PIN 4 - GROUND

PC serial port DB9 connector:
PIN 2- RX
PIN 3 - TX
PIN 5 - GROUND

1. Jumper (short) pins 4,6 on the PC side
2. Jumper (short) pins 7,8 on the PC side
3. Build a TTL-RS232 signal level converter between the PC serial port's TX/RX and the Amino's RX/TX, respectively. This simple one worked beautifully for me

4. Connect at 115200,N,8,1.

That's it!

Thanks for posting this info as it has enabled me to get into this Aminet125 box I picked up at a thrift store for $2. I'm pretty much just poking around with the box to see if there's anything useful I can do with it. Heck, if I knew where the JTAG pins were, I'd make it an experiment board for my embedded software aspirations.

My problem, however, is that it won't let me into the console when I press enter at the prompt. I thought that I had incorrectly wired my serial interface, but if I touch the RX and TX pins together, my key presses echo back to me. That indicates to me that at least my cable is built correctly, but I am wondering if I have either damaged the Aminet125's UART (oops!) while probing or if I have somehow missed something not mentioned here. If it helps, here is my output:

Based on the above output, should I have been able to enter the "I>" prompt by pressing ENTER? If so, and assuming that I did in fact kill the UART, is it possible to at least configure a DHCP server to use the currently flashed OS instead of trying to TFTP a new one? I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm sure that will be usesless to ask for a software image. (I'd love to be wrong about this, by the way...)

It's good to see that I'm not the only one that has this problem, as it's reassuring to know I may not have damaged the serial port as I had initially thought.

For those familiar with the debug cable on these boxes: is there anything special about it apart from using an RS232 driver to convert the RX and TX signals from 3.3v? This is pretty much all I am doing to interface the AmiNET STB to the computer's erial port. I remember reading Amino's documentation on this and didn't see anything, but that was quite a few months ago.

Perhaps it's time to whip this thing out again over the weekend and see if I can figure out what is going on. Is there anyone in the know who can suggest what to do next?

dont worry dear i have solutaion i do same like many time but Enter is not worked but realy i am too much tired when pressing again again trying many time atleast last time i press all keybord and its worked directly to formated a amino wow its amazing but bad luck i do again its not working so keep trying and find correct key .

I test above parameters with combination of different values but it get worse. anybody knows what is the problem?
