Allow custom/external subtitles for DVDs

Postby jimmyscab » 30 Dec 2006 09:38

I think it would be a good feature. There are DVDs out there which have rubbish subtitles (particularly translated ones) or no subs at all so it would be good to load up an SRT or something.

I think MPC can do it. Would it be possible to implment this feature into VLC player?

The problem is MPEG 2 doesn't have good timing information for external subs.

Hi

What does that mean? I know in MPC you need to use a specific type of vid codec to allow them. Could we not have this option in VLC?
