Dual Audio files

Hello everyone, I have a question. On files with dual Audio such as Japanese and English. If the default start audio is Japanese, is there anyway I can set it so the default is english? I ask this because i'd like to upload the video but since the default is on japanese if I upload it I think it will be in Japanese and not english Any help is appreciated.

Apparently I am the only one who can't figure out how to adjust the audio prefs for dual audio!

Prefs -> Input/Codecs -> Audio language is a text field. The tooltips say "Language you want to use (comma separated, two or three letter country code)"

What am I supposed to type in there? I have an .avi file that I am told has a second (english) audio track. No matter what I put in the text field (English, Eng, USA, ENGLISH, english) I still get the primary audio track.

Can I confirm somehow that there are other audio tracks? Maybe the author lied and there's only the primary track? Do I need to change any other settings besides the one "Audio Language" text field?

This is on a G4, OSX 10.4.8, VLC 0.8.6a.

When the formats are muxed into a container the author is given the choice to select a language, if this is not chosen the three letter code to select the language will do nothing.

I have same problem

Video in ogm container (xvid) , audio streams japan and english (both tagged in virtualdubmode - mp3).

First stream is english but i prefer japan.

Preferences, Input / Codecs either Audio language i try jpn, jp but doesn't work.


Second problem - why in audio strems (Audio - Audiotrack) is only Track1, Track2 (why not english, japan)?
(in others player as MPC works fine)

MP3 tags are not valid. The language is selected in the muxer and or is noted as the default language. This will cause a player to select it first.

I have this problem too and i tried everything . Your opinion counts !

I make lots of files and when I mark an audio track in the muxer as the default that's what a player plays first. When I state the language of the audio track in the muxer I can have a preference in a player. Other than this I can state the track number assuming that I always mux the English or alternate language first with or without setting a default. But this does assume some kind of consistency when making the file.
