Having installed 0.8.5 yesterday, I've run across the following issues:
Preferences:
interface/main interfaces/http/host address is always one higher than last save when you restart. Very weird - and annoying.
Stream Output/VLM configuration file - \ not allowed in path name - must use /.
Messages list:
if a connection error occurs, and you then clear the message list, a subsequent connection error will show the cleared errors as well. Do this a few times, and my VLC crashes. YMMV.
VOD:
view/VLM Control leads to immediate crash if VOD entries exist.
port used to stream UDP is 1 greater than port client initiated with...this is probably by design, but really blows if client is behind a NAT router. If you're going to use port+1 to respond, there should be a way to force which port the client is going to use so the appropriate holes can be opened in the firewall. Personally I'd rather the client specifically communicate over each port to be used (which means they might not be contiguous by the time NAT is done with them) so I don't have to open any firewall holes.
VLM
adding broadcast/vod entries via VLM control:
path delimiter (\) is stripped from item path
path ends at first space in path/filename
adding vod entry causes immediate crash (as noted above)
I dont know what the default directory is...it's not root, and it's not appdir.
adding broadcast/vod entries via http interface:
entries not present on first visit to page after VLCserver restart
path delimiter (\) present in save file, but should be \\
using a virtual drive doesn't work (I tried mapping a drive to my video file subdirectory to get around the naming issues...didn't work)
general:
spaces in path names not allowed! very aggravating.
Playlist:
selecting a new shoutcast category causes list to collapse
VOD entries (not playing) aren't available
selecting, then right clicking a shoutcast entry causes selection and use of next item in list (this has something to do with the pointer hot spot being near the bottom of the selected row when the right click occurs)
it'd be nice if VOD can be multicast or announce. Actually, I think it might be possible to get it to announce once it starts, but I'd like it to announce before any requests.
anyone know which port(s) SAP announce uses?
Anybody have 15 seconds of mpg video saying "Your video will begin shortly"? Clients can't connect to a new broadcast stream until after the stream starts...guaranteeing they'll miss the first bit of the broadcast.
I was going to try and fix some of these problems myself, but after looking at what it takes to configure a development environment....
