Streaming works for 5 seconds, then stops..

Postby cozmo_ » 16 Oct 2006 17:35

My setup : Windows XP Media Center Edition with Hauppauge PVR-500.

What i want to accomplish : Serve a videostream on my home network for clients to connect to. (I've configured a similar setup at work, and there it works perfectly)

So I'm using the wizard ; stream to network->next>select stream>directshow and selecting the Hauppauge WinTV PVR PCI II Capture in the drop-down menu. "Next", and then choose HTTP for streaming (leaving "destination" blank), "asf" for format and "TTL" = 1 (as it says for LAN).

What happens then is : I connect to 127.0.0.1:8080 with another instance of VLC on the mediapc, it starts streaming just fine , but after 3-4 seconds the stream freezes and nothing more happens.
The exact same thing happens when connecting from other clients on the network.

All solutions welcome, I'm getting bald trying to figure this out :-(

What video/audio codecs/bitrates do you use?

At this point I think I've tried most options....Turns out the only thing I can get working for a few seconds is ASF. If i try MPEG1, MPEG-TS or RAW there is no stream at all...

Installed Microsoft Media Encoder 9 today to see if I could use it instead. There I cannot even access the capture device before I start the streaming.

Thought I'd got one of the more common tv-tuner-cards that would work in most applications. Turns out this hauppauge card really sucks. Should have gotten a Leadtek or nvidia card instead :-(
