More control of conexant cards under windows

Postby tazzydemon » 12 Sep 2006 23:29

Further to my previous questions to forums I have now found out what is going wrong when playing (and particularly) from my PlayTV@P7000, a Pixelview Conexant MPEG2 card running under MCE

Using Graphedit I have determined that the default video capture device on my MCE box is a "connexant 2388xx video capture"

This is is yuy2 output and has no audio associated with it. The device that should be used is (IMHO) further alang the chain and is the MPEG TS output of the hardware mpeg encoder "connexant 2388xx MPEG encoder"

Why have an encoder and not use it for streaming with no transcoding? Anyway the given solution loses the sound which is in I2C format between connexant functional blocks

Remarkably VLC runs with MCE without hijacking the device which is more than I can say for windows media9 encoder. I want to be able to stream TV around the house while MCE is being used for something else.

This must be the same as a Hauppage PVR 150 so how do they work?

Julian
