HDTV split files

why cant vlc play all the splitted HDTV files (100mb a pice) in the row with no 1-2 sec. break for avery 100mb file
like theater tek do 75x100mb in the row with no breaks

or is just me ?

Hmm! I just load them up in a playlist go full screen and as long as the formats and container don't change I can barely notice where one ends and the other begins. VLC does dump all the buffers and libraries at the end of a file and at the beginning of the next file it reloads. the only saving grace factor is Windows memory that reloads faster if nothing has changed. Other than this VLC will leave full screen to a windowed mode and then return to full screen when the new file is loaded. There are no magic switches in VLC.

I've got the same problem: the HDTV TS-files are not played seamlessly. I did indeed notice a small improvement by setting VLC default to full screen, but it still stops playing for about a second. And I lose short audio fragments. Very annoying in a conversation...

I can't imagine it's the PC: brand new Dell 9150 duo 3 Ghz processor, and Dell 1920 x 1200 screen.

Any other suggestions?

Try setting the priority of VLC higher when it runs in windows. Do you still get the issue then?
Perhaps it are CPUs/discs being smart and slowing down when they have it easy.

Tried that as well, didn't help.
Disabled all viruschecking: didn't help.

Tried Theater TEK: video plays smooth!

Then I experimented with HJSplit: I renamed all nnn.####.ts files to nnn.ts.###, and used HJSplit to join them. Videolan then plays the resulting .ts file without any problem...

But don't know whether this works in all circumstances...

Ah well duh. I didn't read you question correctly.

VLC plays one file at a time. So if you don't merge the file, the result it logical.

I see the same behavior on my Win2k system, but it didn't surprise me. I assume VLC simply needs a moment to begin streaming each file. So, I use HDTVtoMPEG2 to combine the TS segments into one huge TS file. It's easy, and takes just a few minutes.

i had the same problem in the beginning,

what i did was install a hdtv pump, to boost rendering and loading, and i convert ( with some movies) to mpeg2( freeware prog.

MPEG2 / H264
H264 kan softwarematig het snelst gedecodeerd worden door CoreAVC.
TS bestanden, die meestal mpeg2 zijn, kunnen aan elkaar geplakt worden met het commando: copy /b "sourcefile.????.ts" "outputfile.ts".
MPEG2 kan eventueel hardwarematig geaccelereerd worden met Nvidia Purevideo (deinterlace control=video, deinterlace mode=display fields seperately).

Het is mogelijk ondertitels apart te downloaden en met VobSub bij een HD film te tonen.
Graphedit is handig om te zien welke video/audio/splitter filters je gebruikt en om filters te deïnstalleren, zie hiervoor de Graphedit readme.txt.
