Using SRT files

Postby ikehgl » 03 Mar 2025 18:34

I downloaded a foreign film and I need permanent subtitles for it. I read someplace that I can find SRT files (subtitles) using the VLC program.
If this is so, can someone direct me as to how to find the file ?
Thanks

Open your video in VLC, click `View`, and select `VLsub`. Enter the movie title, select the language, and click `Search by name`. Make sure that the title corresponds to the real title of the film.

Hi,

Subtitles files can be opened by selecting the file with the "Use a subtitle file" checkbox. You can then select local files or network ones to find your subtitle file.

You can also use a subtitle file by dragging the file directly to the VLC window with the mouse !

Hope it helps!

You will find the srt files that you have downloaded in the same folder as the film.
