Adding subtitle corrupts the video

The video works fine at first. But when i try to add a subtitle using 'select subtitle file' option, the video closes. Trying to play it again only shows loading...the spinning VLC logo we all hate. I figured the audio track was gone. Only the subtitle track remains which is apparently useless.

Hi, sorry about your issue, this is not the first time we hear about this, but we were not able to reproduce it. Could you share the files on which you had this issue, please ? That would help us very much to find what is happening.
