VLC Destop recording

Hi
I just recorded my desktop and at the time of starting it didn't ask me for file save location and now when I paused the recording I can't find the file. It was very important. Can someone please help?
I hit play and not convert while starting, if that's the reason then shouldn't the default option be the one that saves the recording automatically? I'm panicking kindly guide me. Thanks!
