VLCMP 3.0.11 - how to overcome slow jumping?

Postby chrisjj2 » 29 Jan 2023 15:38

Even on a fast i9 CPU with a ton of RAM, SSD and monster nVidia GPU, on a 40mbps MP4, the Jump forward command execution time can take nearly a second (and varies a lot at different points in a video).

Are other users finding the same?

Is there any way to reduce this?

Even on 7mbps is not smooth enough to keep up with a fast key repeat rate. On such a powerful machine I'd expect a lot better.

Thanks.

Thanks. Is there a no-install version? E.g. online?

As you can see on the page, there are GUI versions without an installer but it's not available online, AFAIK.

Thanks. (I'd tried the one apparently without installer and found it required install, but now I find the actual words are a separate link, which works.)

Try another video output module:
http://wiki.videolan.org/WindowsFAQ-2.0 ... _output.3F

You can also try with and without hardware acceleration.
Also check this guide:
https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=156428

If it doesn't help then reset the preferences and try again:
