Jittery playback on 3.0.18

I’ve read about new high end machines
Ours used to be
i7 4 core 16Gb Ram Mojave

Our previous version of VLC worked without being glitchy/Jittery
However since upgrading to 3.0.18 several video files mp4 & mkv from movies & TV series have been jittery
Not smooth.

I’ve not been able to find any of the settings mentioned in the high end thread referencing cores etc.

I tried stepping back to version 3.0.17.3
But either that’s NOT the version we were using or there’s an external file that’s changed that changing the App means there is no effect.

I could do with an older install file
But ultimately this is a bug that needs fixing


UPDATE :
I had a copy of 3.0.11.1
It’s as smooth as silk.
There’s definitely something wrong 3.0.17 & 3.0.18

Sure, what do you need, preference file, log etc.
I know how to get to the user library files.
If it’s a hidden file in the main OS if the go to folder command is enough to get me to the folder, that’s fine too.

Just give me a unix path. & file name.
The other thing is I’m not sure how I post files here
I don’t see an add attachment button
I do see the tags for image & url
