Stutter when first opening media [3.3.0 RC 4]

Videos and audio stutter or drop audio during the first 1-2s when first opened. Seeking back to beginning works fine afterwards.

Any video/audio file first loaded, device: Pixel 2 and Pixel 4a.

I had the same issue. Try turning on debug logging, it somehow fixes it.

I have been reporting "stutter" on my 2018-19 phones for over a year. I have not noticed the problem on newer VLC versions. Yes, TheEclipseMaster, turning on debugging makes the problem go away—also meaning I couldn't flesh out my bug reports and no one could diagnose them!
