Forever I've been able to >>| to jump to the next item when streaming from my DLNA server. Now I can only skip ahead by 10 seconds. Was the play next option removed or am I just doing something wrong?
On my iPad, double-tap on the right side of the screen jumps forward a few seconds. The >| BUTTON does the SAME thing.
3.3.10 (440)
I've retained an older version of VLC on my other iPad since it still allows jumping to the next video.
The UI changed a bit between the versions.
Old version has >>|
Newer version has >|
I was going to try to add a video to the local media library and see if the play controls work different but that no longer works either. Added a couple of videos to the VLC File Sharing section in iTunes, watched them upload, but the Video Media Library is empty.
I may need to factory reset this iPad. When I look in the Files app, it says 3 items are in the VLC folder, but looking inside the folder it's empty except for a file that says upload files here. The iPad otherwise works ok but this behavior is very strange because I used to have allot of MP4's in the VLC Media Library. It's running 15.7. Since the new VLC controls work as expected on the phone, it MUST be something wrong in the iPad.
I also just got a new iPad, so I'll try on it when I get a chance to open the box and report back.
Update. I did a system restore to factory (which forced 16.1 on me) and then restored from backup. No change.
The ONE thing I SHOULD have tried FIRST was just to uninstall/re-install VLC. Doing that on THIS iPad now lets the >| button jump to the NEXT video instead of jumping ahead 10 seconds.
So this thread is solved for me. But on-board Media Library still does not work. Will search threads and open another if needed for that.
In the Files app I CAN see the MP4 I uploaded to the VLC folder, but even forcing VLC to rescan still does not show it on the Video tab. This has NEVER not worked.
Wait - solved the Media Library problem too! There's another thread here I've participated in regarding uploading MULTIPLE media files to VLC and having it only recognize SOME or a RANDOM selection of the ones that were uploaded. Several had different solutions. The one that worked for me was to KILL VLC BEFORE adding any files to the VLC folder in File Sharing. Until today I've never had a problem uploading a SINGLE file and having it recognized - that ALWAYS worked. But, the KILL VLC trick solved my problem just now where I had only uploaded a SINGLE MP4.
My guess is that under Settings, the force VLC to re scan for media simply does not work at all. At least for Video files.
