Recently played media.

Postby SixteenThirty » 02 Sep 2022 02:21

Hi guys,
I think I already know this answer to this but figured I’d ask just in case I’m missing something.

I’m using VLC on an Amazon Fire TV Cube (latest version of VLC - 3.4.3 I believe).

Is there a way to have VLC indicate which videos have already been viewed when playing remote media via the internet?

I’m guessing not but just asking in case someone has come up with something.

Thanks.

Yes you can if you mean streams.

1. Go to the streams screen

2. They should appear in the list under

Thanks Aza but that’s not actually what I meant. It was me describing the issue badly. Sorry.

Basically I have an external IPTV app on Fire TV Cube and I use VLC as the default player in that.
I was wondering if there was a way for VLC to remember where I am in the app.

I get that it’s probably an app issue rather than VLC but figured I’d ask on the off chance.

Thanks.

I am still not sure I understand what you're asking for.

What do you mean by "where I am in the app"?

Nightly Build of VLC

Sorry, I didn’t explain myself properly. My bad.

Basically I am using VLC as an external player in an IPTV app on my Fire TV Cube.

When I play a video using VLC on the app is there a way for VLC to show me which episodes have already been watched?

As it stands whenever I go back in to the IPTV app and look at a specific TV series I have no idea what episode I was up to last time I watched it.

The internal player on the app has a little bar at the bottom of the thumbnails to show me that I’d seen that episode. But I would prefer to use VLC.

Thanks

I you play indexed files (In the videos screen):

It will be shown like that:

If you play network files, it should be shown like that:

In both cases, the video and the progress/play status will be shown in the history line:

Bonus: in the history line, you can long press a media and choose "Browse parent" to navigate to the media folder.

Long press calls up a menu? In the play queue, tapping three-dots calls up a menu, and long-press does something else. Simplify/unify?

This is a bit offtopic, but I'll answer:
We cannot display icon buttons on the main screen due to some limitations with the framework. Long press is the only enter point we have on the main screen unfortunately. We planned to completely change it, but after more than 3 years (yes, not even kidding: https://developer.android.com/jetpack/a ... s/leanback) without a stable release of the TV components, it seems that Google remembered that this platform exists and started working on something new (https://twitter.com/theapache64/status/ ... 9rTxA&s=19). We will have to wait for VLC 4 to start working on it though.
