Super Slow Scanning For Media

When I Open Vlc it naturally scans for media but it take hours to complete and still like 30% completed !
Unlike any other video player in less than 10 seconds the scan is completed
I need help it's really slow and almost not scanning at all

I have less than 3000 file,
Version : Vlc For Android 3.4.4
And i have a decent phone though,

Current versions of VLC have a status message indicating how many files were found. If this count doesn't move for a long time, especially if your phone is rooted, VLC may be searching directories that don't contain media.

You should use More > Settings > Media library folders - to instruct VLC where to look. I too have nearly 3000 files and it takes substantial time; VLC must read each one to build its database from the tags inside the files.

Ok i instructed it where to look as you said but then when i refresh , "discovering" & "Parsing Media" still take along time
I'm just complaining because I haven't changed anything and it was way faster like 3 seconds for refreshing and not an hour

Hi, is it with remote server or local files? Remote server performances will drastically improve soon.

SaifAhmed, my old phone takes maybe 10 minutes to do the whole thing. I bet when yours took 3 seconds, it wasn't looking in all the right places. My smaller phone with just my top 500 is pretty fast.

Why don't you believe me i have 4 video players they all refresh in less than 6 seconds and all my videos / music are visible
And vlc was just the same but taking taking hours and not even completed
Btw my phone is new and it's fast even my old phone took 10 seconds.

Could you please share some logs? Reproduce the issue and then go to: Settings > Advanced > Debug logs. Then share the logs with the sharing service you prefer (Google Drive, Dropbox, pastebin...).

i too, experience this issue but *only* if the single folder containing the media files is removed and then reapplied or if VLC has been updated.
with a database of the media files in the single folder already compiled, the normal procedure to check for changed files within the single folder takes much less time when opening VLC.
this is 8,360 MP4 (AAC audio) files on 1TB external storage.
samsung galaxy A31 international version, android 11, 128GB internal storage, 1TB external storage, 6GB RAM.
it can take up to one hour for a new database to be created.
