Playback Video Resume Position gone/lost - plays back from beginning often after coming out of Audio playback mode

So often when i press the phones power button to just listen to a video i have on the phone and then decide to watch a part of the video again
VLC immediately starts to play the video very from the very beginning, i.e. my previous position in the video is apparently lost/gone
(no video resume position)

Hardware: Samsung Note 10+
OS: Android 11
VLC: 3.4.3

Extra Settings > Video > Resume played videos: Always
Settings > Video 'Background/PiP mode': Play videos in background

I just looked into it and found no issue with the current behavior.

To be sure I understand you issue correctly, could you please tell me exactly what you do when the video is playing in background? Do you let it finish? If so, it's normal that it's started over the next time. If not, the video should start at the last played time.

I press the button on the side of my note 10+ to turn the screen off while in the middle of a video, then often when i turn screen back on (same button) VLC will start playing the video
from the begging

Im on android 11, so i guess the issue is intermittant depending on phone make/model and android version

Could you please share some logs? Reproduce the issue and then go to: Settings > Advanced > Debug logs. Then share the logs with the sharing service you prefer (Google Drive, Dropbox, pastebin...).
