Picture and sound slowdown in DVD images (video_ts)

Postby Shmanich » 14 Dec 2020 12:05

Picture and sound slowdown and the picture crumbles into pixels in some DVD images on the same episodes, but if you watch vobs separately from the DVD image, then everything is ok. Other players (eg MPC, GOM, PowerDVD) play without problems.
Please fix this bug in VLC Player.

My config: i7-6700K, Intel HD Graphics 530, 32 gb ram, Windows 10 Pro v20H2.

Hit Ctrl + P to open prefs and click the Input / Codecs button at the top. In the opening menu where it reads "Hardware-accelerated decoding" set it to Disabled via the dropdown menu.

Save, exit and restart vlc.

It didn't work. Plus Full HD video slowdown, if you disable hardware-accelerated decoding.

OK, in the same Input / Codecs menu set hw accelerated decoding to DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) 2.0 via the dropdown. Save and restart again.

It didn't work for DVD-Video either. :(

I recorded a video with the bug. Watch it in full or skip to timecodes: 01:40 & 02:22 & 03:40

Is your PC powerful enough to decode DivX in real time?

What is DivX? DVD-Video is MPEG2!
I wrote the configuration of my computer above. Read carefully and judge for yourself.
I think that video player developers shouldn't have such confusion and questions at all! Everything is obvious and so.
GOM Player, MPC and even PowerDVD play DVD-Video without issue, but not VLC.

I publish links to the DVD-video image “E-Type - Private Collection 1993-2011”, where the sound slowdown and the pictures are crumbled into pixels . I do this ONLY for a test, so that the developers can fix the problem in VLC player.

Please download and unzip the zip archives with 7zip and watch the DVD-video via VLC player. You will see a lot of lags in a lot of videos, like “I just wanna be with you” and “Here I go again”.
