VLC not as sharp as xine

when i play an avi in Xine or gxine, it is much more sharper then in VLC.
In vlc it is more blocked.
How come?

depends on how you configure vlc. That's the power of vlc in my opinion, you can configure almost anything in advanced config. modus. Deinterlace to mean, or double buffering?
Maybe just the original xine-ui instead of gxine? all vlc nessesary dependencies ok & right version? check codec settings put them on higher quality if compu hardware allows it.
