WIN 10 playing VLC videos (songs) ALL win10 is slow

I am running win10 on acer laptop with 6GB RAM using only 1 GB so have 5GB of RAM.

Whenever I'm playing videos (songs) so like 3+ min long ALL the rest of windows is so slow, even the internet (firefox)
as soon as the video stops, wala all is OK

I have malwarebytes, register cleaner SFC, nothing

task manager memory VLC is running at 36MB

any advice please?

Is the laptop an Optimus machine? That means it has two graphic solutions namely an Intel chip to which vlc defaults to and an Nvidia card with 4GB dedicated memory. I have one of those myself which is also an Acer machine.

In the case of the Intel graphics the video output has to share memory with the CPU which will affect performance. You can overcome that by forcing the system to use the dedicated Nvidia graphics by right clicking the vlc.exe and then "Run with graphics processor" ---> "High performance Nvidia processor".
