VLC 3.0.10 win64 Audio Issues (on Windows 10)

Postby Oishi » 05 May 2020 02:54

There was a similar post regarding 3.0.9 Nightly version not being able to play some HLS audio streams. ( https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=151610 )

Not sure if that's the case here, but today, I upgraded my VLC to version 3.0.10, and noticed that, although I am able to play recently downloaded mkv videos normally. there were some older mkv videos I had whose audio wasn't working at all (like the audio tries to play at the beginning but it immediately stops working). For a moment I thought those videos got corrupted, but I then tried downgrading to version 3.0.8 and it worked just fine. It also works on Android Version.

So my guess is that Version 3.0.10 is having some codec issues but, to be honest, I don't know much about technical details regarding this kind of software.... So there is not much more info I can provide unless someone tells me where and how to retrieve it.

Should this be reported as a bug? Or there is something else I am overlooking? I tried messing with preferences and still couldn't make it work, and as I said, other videos did play normally. (I downgraded and upgraded twice just to make sure, btw).

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload a short sample of an original problematic file to Zippyshare.com (200 MB max) or to WeTransfer.com and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:

100 MB max should be enough.

Hey!

I think I have the same problem. I am using 3.0.10 and in my videos (it's a powerpoint presentation saved as .mp4 video) the sound is working, but when the presenter goes to the "next slide" the audio stops. After a while, the sound comes back, but like this I miss the beginning or even all of the comments to the slides.
When I stop the video and go back I can hear all of it, but this driving me crazy.

I tried different settings (from the audio-troubleshooting post) but nothing helps.

Thanks

I'm having the same issue so I'll post what I see in "Messages":

avcodec info: Using D3D11VA (Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620, vendor 8086(Intel), device 5917, revision 7) for hardware decoding

Please advise what is wrong with the updated VLC version. It was working fine (I'm a student who's analyzing video for my dissertation), but when I got the prompt to update, I did it, but now I can't play the videos. :( I can play the same videos using Windows video player.

https://www11.zippyshare.com/v/LprHrNsg/file.html This is one of the few videos I'm having trouble with. They were originally Youtube videos that I downloaded to analyze for my research. It has sound for half a second before the sound cuts out. :(

There are known issues with v3.0.10, revert back to version 3.0.8 while waiting for fixes:
