Remote conrol not working when a skins is used/enabled

Postby lecaroz.louis@free.fr » 12 Jan 2006 22:10

Hi all,
As you know, remote control software uses the window caption to send the remote control key to the program.

When not using a skin, VLC can be easily controled with a remote control (I have just to force a fix caption name for the fullscreen window in the advanced option/preferences) but when a skin is enabled, any window has a caption title in its window properties & so, the remote control softaware cannot be configured for sending key commands :(

Is it possible to add aotumaticaly in skins a default window captio/title properties ? thx in advance,
Louis

I'm not familiar with remote control software, so i have a few questions:
Does it use the window title (what you can read on the title bar in a non-skinned window) or the window class (as defined by the Win32 API)?
Does the software list the available titles, or do you have to enter the one of the window you want to control remotely?
Do you need different titles for different windows of a same application?

Currently, VLC has a hidden parent window with the "VLC media player" title and the "SkinWindowClass" class name. All the other child windows (the visible windows) also have the "SkinWindowClass" class name, but their default title is... "default name" (i guess i should change this :-)).

Do not hesitate to tell us if this causes problems with your software, and/or what you would prefer.
