Where is the error log?

Instead a radio stream I get the (German) message:

The stream could not be opened, I should look into the error log - but where is it? I did neither find a menu item (not even one that says "start logging" or so) nor a log file (in every directory I could imagine as place for such a file).

I want to know what has happened (maybe a problem on the side of the sender, the problem is intermittend, other radio streams show no problems). So my question is: where do I find that error log?

To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:

1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
2. Set Verbosity to 2
3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [​code]and[​/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)

Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.

I found a way to open the stream in a browser, and so I could see that when this error occurs, a (re)load of that URL gave a 404 (file not found) or 503 (server unavailable) error. This explains the problems within VLC, which certainly had the same problems as firefox.

But Your answer may help me in the future, if "something" happens and I need a log.
