Large Photo Viewing

We use VLC to display photographs and movies on a second monitor, on our Windows 10 PC, which VLC normally does very well. For some reason it doesn't display photographs that are larger than 1000 kb. Thoughts on why this is the case and is there a solution, a plugin, or anything to solve it?

Any solution to this? I found out it a bit slower than Mac opening a photo. Mac really fast even with a large photo (10MB). Any ideas?
