Feature Request: Subtitle settings

Postby eDaniel » 24 Jan 2015 14:22

Hello,
I'm watching movies everyday and there are some features I'm missing and I think will be useful.
- ability to change the font family and size
- option to change the ANSI encoding (cyrillic, latin, etc) -OR- option to convert ANSI encoded file to Unicode on the fly
- change subtitle display position - below, above, etc or ability to fine tune the position
- subtitle timing advance/retard

You can do 1 and 2 in preferences, but nothing on the fly.
4 is already there.

Hello Jean-Baptiste Kempf,

I'm using version 1.0.9.0 which does not seem to have these features.
More information:

-device: Nokia Lumia 930 with Lumia Denim
-firmware: 02540.00019.14522.26003
-os version: 8.10.14226.359

Here is a screenshot from my VLC player:

Am I missing something?

Also, when playing video I notice two problems:
- there is an audio/video sync issue when playing some videos
- there is a green border around the movie (see the screenshot below):

Thanks,
Daniel

hi,

just curious as you also use a Lumia 930 ; how do you get to select the subtitle file ?? Here it does not play along automagically as on other devices. I can only select it thru some apps ; Media Explorer (which crashes), Onedrive (useless) and Phone, which seems to work but after selecting no subtitles are shown !?

I can't find any preferences about font and size either as pointed out below ...

I really need this feature. I can see only blocks in subtitles now. Font and encoding!!

Edited:
My device is an Xbox One S.

Any plans to implement this feature? I would donate you for 10$ for an opportunity to turn on 2 different subtitles :)

Which one?

AFAICT for the dual subtitle support, videolan even has a bounty: https://wiki.videolan.org/Bounties/#Dua ... es_support

Seriously, developers are not kids looking for pocket change. Just the time it would take to receive a $10 payment and report for accounting/taxation would be worth more than $10. Forget about the actual productive work time.
