Multiple Streams playing simultaneously

Postby jvteam » 24 Jan 2019 14:23

I have used a couple raspberry pi's to make baby monitors for my two kids rooms. They are streaming onto a server that is accessed via a stream on each IP address.

I was wondering if you could help me out with the output. I have another pi in our room hooked up to a speaker. I need 1 of 2 things to occur.

1.) have both streams play simultaneously on the same speaker

or

2.) have each stream play simultaneously on 2 different speakers

How do I go about configuring VLC and the pi to do this? I seem to be able to get one or the other going, but have struggled with both.

Fwiw, I wouldn't trust a pi for this purpose. It's unsafe if something happens and you don't notice because one of many possible things has gone wrong with the streaming. Security camera, ok maybe, but not a baby monitor.
