VLC 3.1 Windows 10 App Status Bar

Apologies if this has been answered somewhere but I couldn't find my issue. I have a new Windows 10 PC and while installing my favorite apps I noticed Windows 10 had VLC in the APP store. So I installed it from there so it would integrate better. I go to use it and the status bar is missing. I have no way to where I am in playback and how much time is left.
Is this by design or is this a problem? Is this MS doing and should I install it stand alone? Not an expert at all on Windows 10 yet so still figuring it out (I knew how to do everything in 7) and best practices.
I appreciate any help. I am sure it is something dumb. Thank you.

Thank you for you reply. I should add I am use to running VLC as stand alone. I am looking for the time bar specifically where I can jump to forward and backward. (btw this is a test mp3, wanted to get this figured out before adding my music library.
