Make VLC decode lossless Bluray audio to PCM

Postby EncryptedEggs » 12 Sep 2018 04:48

I sometimes use headphones with my Fiio E10K USB headphone DAC/Amp. I've also been using VLC to watch some Bluray discs that have Dolby TrueHD 2.0 channel audio. The Fiio E10K is of course not a home theater A/V Receiver and doesn't decode formats like Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD (if understand correctly). Instead it expects PCM. I was wondering if there is a way to set VLC to go ahead and decode these TrueHD 2.0 tracks to PCM and then pass that into the Fiio so I could hear the correct lossless audio. Or is this just not a thing?

Thanks.
