Not casting to Chromecast

Hi,

Whenever I go to Playback --> Renderer --> My Chromecast, it won't play. Nothing happens (not on my Mac or on the Chromecast).

I'm using VLC 3.0.2 and Yosemite 10.10.5.

Hello,

I am having the same problem. I had an older version of VLC (do not remember which version) that worked Rendering to Chromecast, but unfortunately updated to version 3.0.3 Vetinari and now when I try to cast to chromecast any video format nothing happens. The question to accept certificate doesn't even pop up like it use to. I tried to downgrading to older version like, 3.0.2, 3.0.1, 3.0, 2.2.8 all way to 2.2.5.1, but I can't get it to work. Please if someone can help me I would deeply appreciate.

Hi, I tracked the failure from my VLC, if someone could take a look and help me solve, I would appreciate.
Things that pop up as weird:

Problem SOLVED!!!!

Go to VLC preferences, at the bottom of the screen click "Reset All". Restart the application and try to render to Chromecast. It worked for me.

If it doesn't work, go to "Show All" and then try to "Reset All" from there.

I too am having a similar issue. It used to work perfectly fine but now, for some reason, I cannot get VLC to cast to my TV at all anymore. Resetting settings did not help for me at all. any other possible solutions would be nice.

So, out of sheer frustration I went and reinstalled windows to a fully reformatted c drive. Not only did it not ask for the acceptance of the ticket, but it worked! No idea why it would not have been working but it does now. I have a couple weird behaviors as well but I will make a new thread for those. Thanks in any event. I'll just chalk it up to windows shenanigans for the time being and will post again if anything else happens. Cheers!

Not sure what was reported and fixed, but 3.0.3 doesn't work for me with something already bound to 8080 (I think it was 8080 anyway). It'd be nice if it's able to find a free port.

There also seems to be other stuff going on because I had to disable my firewall after that for it to work, but 8080 was accessible. (Awesome to have it working though).

Perform a factory reset on you chromecast unit by pressing and holding the small button on it. It will instruct you to go to chromecast.com/setup. Go through the steps and it will fix your problem.

The factory reset on my chromecast worked for one video, then the next video has the same problem. Shows the 'cast' icon on the chromecast screen, and will looks like it buffers for half a second, then the screen goes blank.

Has anyone had any further luck with this issue?

I am unable to play videos. Audio (FLAC) file worked fine, but not MP4 or MKV. Tried resetting preferences, restarting my computer, re-installing VLC (newest version).

Looks like it's about to start to play but then nothing happens on my tv or my laptop screen.

Please help!! Worked fine before don't know what changed. I'm on Mac High Sierra 10.13.6
