Issues with VLC Streaming feature

Postby themusicman926 » 29 Jul 2018 15:37

Hello,

Just recently I started using VLC media player and I discovered that you can stream videos from your PC or device across the internet to others. I was testing out this feature the other day, possibly hoping to watch some videos with a few friends. But, I had many problems with either the video, audio, or the stream itself. I would create a stream on my own ip address and join it to test it but everytime after selecting multiple different settings, I would experience one of the following things:

-Can't access or join stream
-Stream doesn't start
-Can see video clearly, but audio is missing
-Can hear audio, but video is missing
-Can see and hear video and audio, but both are distorted

I am mainly looking for the best way to setup my stream so I won't experience these problems. So things like what would be the best codec? What should be the destination I choose? etc.
If it helps at all, most of the files I am trying to stream are in .mkv format.

Thanks
