Remote control of vlc
I have my computer hooked up to my TV and play things through vlc which is great, but when Im sitting on the couch away from my computer I cant pause or play etc which sucks. I have an old HP windows media remote control which works for windows media player and funny enough my xbox 360, is there a way to configure vlc to receive the same basic controls from this remote?

I don't think.
You can enable HTTP interface, and with a smartphone use "VLC Remote Free" to manage VLC via the software and the smartphone by remote (via wi-fi).
