Mouse cursor wont hide

Postby Frejoh466 » 31 Oct 2017 13:14

After reinstalling windows 10 with the fall update, the mouse cursor wont go away. The debug message I get is,

Code: Select all

core debug: auto hiding mouse cursor core debug: auto hiding mouse cursor core debug: VoutDisplayEvent 'mouse button' 0 t=8 core debug: VoutDisplayEvent 'mouse button' 0 t=9 core debug: VoutDisplayEvent 'double click' qt4 debug: Qt: Fullscreen state changed qt4 debug: Qt: Entering Fullscreen core debug: VoutDisplayEvent 'resize' 1920x1080 window core warning: playback too early (-50084): down-sampling core warning: picture is too late to be displayed (missing 51 ms) core debug: picture might be displayed late (missing 11 ms) core debug: VoutDisplayEvent 'mouse button' 0 t=8 core debug: VoutDisplayEvent 'mouse button' 0 t=9 core debug: VoutDisplayEvent 'double click' qt4 debug: Qt: Fullscreen state changed qt4 debug: Qt: Quitting Fullscreen core debug: VoutDisplayEvent 'resize' 1920x1059 window core debug: VoutDisplayEvent 'resize' 1920x1007 window core debug: VoutDisplayEvent 'resize' 720x404 window core debug: auto hiding mouse cursor
If I set the hide mouse option to 0ms and keep trying, it sometimes hide the mouse cursor, but it's rare.

I have the same issue. Cursor does not go away when I fullscreen a video by double clicking. This began after the Windows 10 Fall update.

Using F for fullscreen removes the cursor but I am used to double clicking.

Yes, please file a bugreport. Also, test 3.0

Created a bug report, https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/19008

Second I posted it I noticed I forgot to change to the correct platform. And you can't edit it.

Edit:
Updating to 3.0 solves the issue, tho as of 20171102 release, I can't increase the volume with the scroll wheel, nor set default volume at startup.

version 2.2.6 is the latest available so upgrading to 3.0 seems like a not great solution at this time.

I have not had this issue after the fall creators update. I am on

Microsoft windows
Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.64)

and this was installed on 10-22-17

the issue spontaneously occurred about 1 week ago (around 11-9-17 to 11-12-17. before that the cursor would auto hide in full screen.

I researched and someone in a reddit thread said you should click the playback/control bar in full screen and the cursor should auto hide. This worked for a day or two and than did not anymore. I found you have to double click somewhere in the control bar in full screen and the cursor works as expected again. If you double click in the control bar again the cursor will stay on the screen

Pressing F does remove the cursor every single time but the second you move your cursor it stays on screen until you do the double click in the control bar as noted.

This seriously seems to be by design but somehow the default cursor hide/show option is in show mode when vlc is started from scratch or a new video is played. I cannot find anywhere for any setting that would control this. Again this looks to be by design and can be controlled but something changed the default configuration.

if i never read that reddit thread from 2013 i would never have known to try this. the help file has no information on cursor or pointer and thats super odd since this is a feature that appears to be as designed but not documented. Again at least some people know about this feature for like 4+ years and o documentation seems crazy to me.

edit: I just tried a desktop on the same vlc and windows and it presents with the exact same issue and all the above troubleshooting and double click'solution' works the same. the only difference is a single click does nothing and a double click, as bolded above, is required. I could be wrong on the update not being the cause but I do not remember having this issue at all in October or two weeks ago. maybe some subsequent update i got late is the culprit but its so odd there is seemingly a on/off switch for this as i found.
