Topic for discussion - What's the best Smart TV to use with VLC?

Postby Azrayl » 29 Oct 2017 18:40

Hello,

I'm looking at getting a new TV in the future. I've had great success watching videos from my laptop onto my samsung Galaxy mobile phone and tablet using the android VLC apps, and Universal Media Server on my laptop. I know that VLC does make apps for Smart TVs but that different brands can use different programming languages (some use android, some have their own proprietary etc) so I image that there may be some slight differences between the different versions (not to mention the varying hardware in the TVs themselves.)

So in your own opinion, what is the best brand of Smart TV to get that has the VLC app, will work with UMS, has decent file navigation (simple list style, not fancy netflix/plex style - I can organize my own media thank you) and has no problem playing a vast majority of video files including hevc .mkvs. And can handle subtitle files hopefully.

And does this brand/model come in 3D? And will VLC play 3d files? (not super necessary, I'll still have a 3d bluray player).

Thanks.

VLC is really notable as a media player that is equipped for playing pretty much anything.

Experienced clients, be that as it may, realize that there's significantly more to the application: including the capacity to stream media starting with one gadget then onto the next. You can even stream your desktop or the contribution from any catch gadgets you may have in your framework.

Re: Topic for discussion - Buying Region 2 33 DVD box set for Reg 4?

I'm looking to buy a Region 2 33 DVD box set foruse in Region 4. VCL has never failed to run DVDs from any region and after living in the UK for many years this has been a great help when I returned home to NZ with a collection of UK DVDs. Just wondering if anyone knows if there are likely to be any problems with this new purchase: All Creatures Great & Small - Complete Collection (Series 1-7) - 33-DVD Box Set ( All Creatures Great and Small ) [ NON-USA FORMAT, PAL, Reg.2 Import - United Kingdom ]
