I'm so confused

Good evening. I have been trying to download a movie (DVD) so I am able to add it to my personal cloud (Seagate T4) for streaming through my Roku. I have tried several times and seem to be doing something incorrectly. There are many online sites that say this (VCL) is the easiest (least expensive) way to handle this function, but I am having no luck. Does someone have specific instructions I might use as I do believe I have done it correctly but have obviously missed something. Thanks for any assistance.

I was able to stream a PC DVD to my Roku per a YT video "how to stream dvd on roku" using Windows 7 no miracast. It showed how to stream any file types like MVK FLV AVI from local PC to a Roku.
