VLC Player stuck in playlist mode

Every time I open a video with the VLC Player it stays on the playlist page, and although the video is playing, you cannot hear nor see it.
Can someone PLEASE explain this to me??
It was working fine this morning, but now it seems broke, I have tried uninstalling, and reinstalling, but it is the same thing!!

Try resetting preferences. You can do that with the reset button you find in simple preferences dialog.

I am new to the forum but i noticed a bug and have been over a hour trying to post my situation. I am unfamiliar with the layout and I need help finding the solution. I am a fedora 24 user and when i cut my vlc on today its missing the file manager thats usually in the left window. If i press the show playlist it goes back to a black screen. I felt it was important. i reset the vlc preferences and it stayed the same when restarted. So I removed it from fedora , rebooted and reinstalled it and i get the same results. How to i post a solution on this. I think it just happened because last night it was working just fine. By the way Fedora 24 64bit works perfectly with VLC.
