DVD files

I recently made a dvd made up of about 20 clips from live tv and also video tape

I put the disc into my laptop and found that they all played ok but the clips frrom
the video tape did nt have sound

could be that the feed from the video player into the dvd player was a mono ?

However having finalized the dvd you d think that all the files would play ok in any machine

I put the disc into a dvd player and the sound was there for all of the clips

In the laptop though things were different and , as I say the clips made from the video player dont have sound

.... saying that I do cable plugged into the headphone socket and a cable to a small music centre
I get better quality sound that way.

when I take the plug out of the headphone socket I hear the audio playing in the laptop even for the files that dont have audio
when played thru my music centre.

Ive been playing these files with BS Player... media player.... VLC among others .... with no sound

however, going into the VLC .... audio.... sterio ..... then I hit ... left..

suddenly Im getting the sound

So VLC seems to be my only option.... Im wondering is there any way to set the .......... left.... as a default setting ?

Every time I come back to VLC with one of these files I ve got to reset it all over again
