Postby anthonylotero » 21 Mar 2016 22:54

Is it possible to make a video continuously loop on the AppleTV?
Thanks

No, we did not expose an option for that in the UI yet.

This would be an incredibly useful feature. We were hoping to use an Apple TV and VLC to play a continuous loop of a video in a sales center. Having it play one time through is useless. Anybody come up with a way to make this happen?

Do you have a time frame on when this will be available?

I'd like to use an Apple TV to replace a DVD player that's been looping for a couple of years.
I thought VLC would be perfect but it can't loop, yet.

Thanks

We added looping in the 1.0.6 release which was published on May 11. :)

Start playback and then swipe down like you'd do to change playback speed or track selection and the option will be there!

Yes, you did and it works fantastically. I was able to get it to work today. Unless I swipe it just right I end up shuttling. It must be me though because one of my friends was able to get it on the first try.

Thank you for making a great piece of software.
I just made a $25 donation.

Thanks again

is there any option to disable the timeline, which is showing every time the looped video restarts?

Has there been any solution to removing the title information upon a looping of the video?

Hi all, I am using the VLC player on Apple TV 4K iOS 11. Specifically him using the app to play in office educational slideshows on TVs (mp4 movie files) . I have uploaded the file into the Apple TV through the Remote function and have selected loop. It works fine but then for some unexpected reason the video will freeze when being played locally. I've tried various troubleshooting, like turning the TV off to see if the Apple TV had something to do with it. But it will still play even though the TV is off for an unspecified amount of time. So the same thing happens when the TV is off for the TV is on. I'm using Samsung 4K TVs . Anyone have the same problem? Is this something that you think Apple TV does if there is no user interaction with the Apple TV for a certain amount of time? I need these movies to play for nine hours a day.
Any help would be great.

I would definitely contribute if the title bar at the bottom could be hidden. Same usage case, we have a trade show and rather than having to have a separate computer streaming to the AppleTV, if the AppleTV could loop, that would be exceptional. It does but the title bar comes up at the bottom each time for 2 seconds

I'd be delighted to make a $100 contribution if this can be fixed in the next couple of weeks. A bargain because otherwise, I have to buy a computer to stream the video to the AppleTV

Is it possible to enable a loop capability from the vlc app itself on the apple tv 4. I need to loop video from a nas on an apple tv 4 directly on the device itself, right in the app.
