It definitely still happens in 2.2.2, for any and all old WMVs from 2 years ago and before for sure. That might be a new development, since everything worked right up to the point when I figured it had been long enough, and acquiesced to the upgrade.

Hello JB,

I noticed that the issue with the supermario3.wmv was fixed with the latest nightly build http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win ... 0312-0303/.

But now the problem turned around again! Now the problem occurs again with the wmv´s which were affected with the release of 2.2.0. Here are two examples where the problem recurs again with 2.2.0-20160312-0303:

http://www.file-upload.net/download-113 ... t.wmv.html
http://www.file-upload.net/download-113 ... d.wmv.html

the supermario3.wmv is ok now with 2.2.0-20160312-0303:

I'm using VLC 2.2.2 (build date Mar 7, 2016) on Arch Linux 64bit and I also have trouble with wmv files.
Not sure if it's the same issue, because the occurence is a bit different: When I just open the file and play it, everything is fine. But when I use the position slider or Ctrl-Right, it starts stuttering.
I have verified the stuttering only occurs in wmv files.

Yes, I've read the rule about only posting Windows related questions here. But it seems that the originally Windows related question turned out to be a multi platform issue, that's why I decided to post here instead of opening a parallel thread in the Linux forum.
Thanks and Regards,
Markus

Still a problem in 2.2.4. The only way to get smooth wmv playback is to revert to 2.1.5.

You need a 3.0 NB, not a 2.2.5

Thanks for your feedback!

I confirm the warnings disappear with the latest 3.0 NB http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/win ... 0923-0439/

Don´t you fix this in 2.2.5?

When fix the WMV playing? I'm using now VLC 2.2.2, it's fine. The NB series have no picture for me. I don't understand, they fixed wmv playing in 2.2.2, and the 2.2.3 , 2.2.4 is bugged again. What happened?
Need to release the new VLC fast.

Why you not using 2.2.4 or 3.0.0 ?
If the official sites for 2.2.4 still have a trouble with the 64-bit version try https://sourceforge.net/projects/dvdx/f ... p/download - more details for this version also on http://www.labdv.com/aacs/

On http://nightlies.videolan.org/ you will find a preview of 2.2.5 and 3.0.0

You can't expect fixes for outdated versions.

please allow me to step in here as probably I am facing the same issue.

VLC 2.2.4 x64 Weatherwax
Windows 10 x64 14393.1198
NVIDIA GTX970

As a workaround, I need to restart playback, or better go back and forth with the slider a few times, then playback is normal.
It is the initial start of the .wmv playback, after 5-10 seconds it is normal, as it should be.
WMV is recorded at 25 fps

BTW this is often, but not always, also the case with DVD (VIDEO_TS).

No issues with .mp4 or .avi

Later:
Note: VLC running using default settings.
Should I use Preferences->Input/Codecs->select Automatic or so at Hardware-accelarated decoding?
