Hardware acceleration not working

Hello,

My phone details:

Model name: xperia sony neo V

Chipset: Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon S2

GPU: Adreno 205

OS: Kitkat 4.4.4

If I enable hardware acceleration (which is by default), videos aren't playing. Its only playing videos ( quality is low) when hardware acceleration is disabled. I read that hardware acceleration is enabled only for certain hardware. Is there any possibility of adding my phone's hardware for support?

In the source code file--org.videolan.libvlc.util.HWDecoderUtil.java, you can find this in line 69:

It mean for MSM8225, VLC do not enable any hardward decoder even OMX, Mediacodec.
But you can try to uncomment this line and then re-compile the vlc for android project source code to generate a vlc-for-android.apk(not the exact file name). After that you can try to install it to your phone and you will find out if this works.
