Version 2.2.1 Terry Pratchett (Weatherwax) (Intel 64bit)

Heya all,

I have just updated to this version of VLC, and now certain movies will not play at all. I use Yosemite 10.10.3 OS X.


Can anyone offer any advice?

Quite a few of them wont play, most I have had for years.
I purchased three new movies through itunes, and when I went to play them I got the notification to upgrade VLC (which I did after checking all three worked). Now they dont work.

They are mp4 and mkv files and until now I have never had an issue with VLC playing these types of files.

I just upgraded my system (also Yosemite 10.10.3) to VLC 2.2.1 and tested a bunch of random .mp4 and .mkv videos, all of them played normally.

What happens when you open these files that won't play?

To make sure this issue is specific to 2.2.1, you could try going back to an older version: http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/
