vlc 2.2.0 crashes

Postby anuswara » 28 Feb 2015 14:55

clicking file settings botton
I become

then crash.

additionally vlc requires a lot of seconds for the first startup, while mpc-hc 1 second only, even for 4k video.
not good. i.e. NOT due to my machine.

additionally
clicking "reset preferences" does NOT cancel custom added icons (snapshot and file info icons). ok with 2.1.5.

and why in the file properties window I dont see 50 (or 25) frame per seconds, but only the resolution?

PS: 4K videos:
http://www5.zippyshare.com/v/lb1CfBjz/file.html
it works well only with gpu acceleration OFF (but regarding this point I am contacting nvidia for testing on my specific card!).

Update!
its VLC issue, since Nvidia wrote to me:
"The GTX 650 can support 3840x2160 at 30Hz or 4096x2160 at 24Hz supported over HDMI"

I hope that VLC developers may want to explain the problems (and the solution), since it is not due to my gpu card. thanks

Hardware decoding and HDMI output are 2 different things. Look at DxVAChecker.

I am speeching about H/W acceleration.

here Nvidia replies:

The GeForce GTX 650 with its VP5 video decoder is capable of up to decoding H.264 with a resolution of up to 4032 × 4080. Were not sure of any limitations these 3rd party software have. Please check with them on this matter.

PS:
previous reply:
The GTX 650 can support 3840x2160 at 30Hz or 4096x2160 at 24Hz supported over HDMI

therefore I ask:
why I have to disable H/W acceleration (for 4K only) to get the video running?
thanks for explanation.

PS: out of curiosity:
I subscribed to this topic "Notify me when a reply is posted", but I dont receive mail notifications. I have to logging here to watch if there are news. there is a reason? thanks.

Regarding dxva checker I use Taskmanager:
if the cpu is 90%, then gpu acceleration is not active
if the cpu is 15-20%, then the gpu is active.
