VLC is skipping, pixelating

Hi. I am running Windows 8, 64-bit. AMD E-300 APU with Radeon HD graphics, 1.30 GHz.

I used to have VLC version 2.0.1. It skips on me and pixelates with some files, not others, primarily MP4 and most MKV files. Unable to fix it, I figured maybe I would just update and hope it went away. Now I'm using version 2.1.5 and the problem persists. The files skip horribly, often times freezing for a few seconds or more before syncing back up with the audio for a couple seconds, then doing it again.

I've tried the 'fixes' from various sources and it doesn't work. Changing the HW decode, setting the loop filter to all, etc...

Is there anyway I can fix this? I really enjoy using VLC. I can watch my movies with different language packs with this program, unlike others I've tried.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have the same issue. The problem is with VLC. A file that has issues on VLC plays perfectly on other media players on the same PC.

Are you using VLC 2.1.5 64bits or 32bits?

same problem and using windows 8.1 64 bit 32 mb ram core 7 not a mem problem

No solution yet? When it starts the skipping and freezing I switch to DA player and most of the time it does fine but the volume is usually low without hooking up my external speakers.

I too have the same problems - seen on Windows 7 64-bit, VLC 2.1.5, 4 GB RAM, Pentium Core i3.
