DVB-S streaming

Postby forever » 19 Oct 2005 09:49

Hi to all,

As I read from the docs that I can stream real time video and audio inside the DVB-S PCI cards on linux using VLC.

Can anyone advice me a DVB-S PCI card that does the streaming on linux with VLC.

Best Regards..

I'm not sure that it's possible for you to do this.
I have a WinTv Nexus-s card and I don't succeed to view the stream DVB.

Now I think that it isn't possible to stream DVB using vlc under linux but I'll be very happy if someone can tell me how to do this.

Surely this is possible, and described in the documentation here:
http://www.videolan.org/doc/streaming-h ... /ch09.html

I can use VLC to stream my DVB-S across my network, only I can't get my CAM to work, so maybe anyone can tell why this doesn't work?

I have a TechnoTrend Premium 1.3 (same as Nexus-S) with CI module (also a Nova-CI but the CI isn't supported by the linuxtv drivers. The Nova works fine with VLC though)

Hi Jan_v_S
Did you use the commands of the http://www.videolan.org/doc/streaming-h ... /ch09.html guide.

I followed this way but nothing, please can you help me to solve my problem?

I'm not at home right now, but I will post a command which works for me.

This command works for CNN on Astra:

vlc -vvv -I dummy --ts-es-id-pid qpsk/ts: --dvb-satno=1 --dvb-frequency=11778000 --dvb-srate=27500000 --dvb-voltage=13 --dvb-tone=1 --programs 28522 --sout-standard-access=udp --sout-standard-mux=ts :sout='#duplicate{dst="std{url=192.168.0.1:1234}"'

does the dvb-s streaming also work, if i want to stream in a multicast group? the docs said, that vls is the correct software to stream dvb-s into a network, but obviosly vlc also does the job. which one should be used?
