Ok so im pretty much a noob when it comes to setting up file sharing systems. I was able to create a ftp server behind my linksys wrt610n router and run it through a dydns account. I can now access the files but when I click "open" it automatically starts downloading them. The files are .iso movies files of 4-7gb each, so the downloading time is far too long --> which is why I would like to know how to stream them. I've tried to use VLC to stream them, but i do not belive i am following the correct procedure. My ftp is also password protected so for the url i put username-pwd@
ftp://blahblah.dydns.org/balhblah/blah.iso .
When i do this VLC says
Your input can't be opened:
VLC is unable to open the MRL 'username-pwd@
ftp://blahblah.dydns.org/balhblah/blah.iso '. Check the log for details.
I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I am doing wrong? is this even possible? is ftp the way to go? like i said i am a noob at this and dont really have an understanding on what to do.
