E-AC-3 Sound problem with vlc 2.1.3

Hello.

I have a weird sound problem with a video from a recodring with a dvb-t tuner. Instead of normal sound, I have strange beeps.

I have those beeps too.
For me it clears up if I force "avcodec" instead of VLC's ac-3 decoder.

First post.
I recently installed 2.1.3 (Windows 32 bit version on a Windows 8.1 PC) and am experiencing the exact same issue with m2ts playback as described above.
My audio sounds exactly like the above sound clip. Video plays correctly, but audio is bad.
For reference, the TS files that I am using are from Dolby's official site - http://www.dolby.com/us/en/consumer/tec ... nload.html
These files (both the video and audio ) seem to play fine with other players.
Has there been any resolution to this issue?

But the sounds I hear when trying to play m2ts are not the beeping sounds described above, but the buzzing sounds described (and sampled) in the original thread.
I gather that the suggestion is to force the avcodec through the GUI... Tools > Preferences > All > Input/Codecs > Preferred decoders list > avcodec?
Should I give that a try, or am I barking up the wrong tree here?

Ok thanks. But I see only the video in your link, and have NO audio - this on a different player at work using Windows media center - so i can't tell what beeping sound you were hearing. In any case, I'll try the fix when I get home tonight and report back.

And for ease of reference for those who may happen upon this thread, the settings may not be immediately obvious -
See bold for additional guidance:

Here's the procedure:
Open VLC.
From the toolbar at the top,
Tools > Preferences > All [note that you must check the radio button at the bottom to get into the ALL screen] > Input/Codecs > Preferred decoders list [note that you need to scroll all the way to the end to see 'Preferred decoders list] > type in 'avcodec' [without the quotes] > Save
Then try to play an m2ts file.
