Audio voices muted

Postby Legonfo » 17 Jan 2014 14:30

I've been using VLC for both audio and video reproduction. I haven't had any problems. I downloaded an audio CD, and on some of the audio tracks, the voice portion of the audio (either a speaking part, or a prime singing voice) are muted or "echoed" when replaying. its' only one some of the tracks, not all of them.
Does anyone know what I can start looking at (audio drivers, video drivers) or if this is related to the downloaded tracks? (the downloaded tracks are different sources, different locations, different types of movies, straight audio track reproductions, and CDs.
If further information is required, I can post or email the affected audio tracks and see if anyone else is having these problems.
Thanks for the help!

To help you, we need messages, to completely understand what your problems is.
To fix this, please be sure before you start the playback to:
  1. Open: Tools -> Messages.
  2. Set Verbosity to 2
  3. Start playback to reproduce your issue
  4. Save text in a file or copy into clipboard
  5. Then paste the full resulting log here between [code]and[/code] (or use Pastebin.com if it's too long)
Also don't forget to name your Operating System and provide the VLC media player version.

And also upload a short sample of a problematic file to either http://streams.videolan.org/upload/ or to Zippyshare.com (200 MB max) or to EmbedUpload.com, the latter will upload the file for you to several other hosts (use the default ones) and then post the link to the file here.

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=57724&p=193335#p193335
50 MB max should be enough.

You need to give us the full URL to the Pastebin page.

Uploaded two audio tracks to the first link provided above: Videolan........
I've found two MP3 files.
They are not CD files (PCM) and they are playing fine to me with VLC 2.1.2.

I upgraded to 2.1.2 and I still have the problem. I've attempted to find the posts for you. Can I just email you the two *.txt files I created with the troubleshooting data instead? (I'm not exactly a rocket scientist with the chat boards....)

thanks.

I still don't understand what is the problem. Your files are playing fine so give us more details about the issue.

Pastebin will give you the URL of your log so just copy and paste it here.

I honestly couldn't tell you why I these files aren't playing properly. especially if when I uploaded them, you played them fine. Would it help if I burned these two files to a different computer and used VLC on that computer to attempt playback?
Could this be some sort of audio setting on my computer?
is there a way that I could use a third party application to record the audio that's being played by VLC to give you an idea of what it sounds like on this end?
I probably sound like an idiot, and I apologize. I just don't know how to more accurately describe what's going on.
Thank you for your patience.

No, I only have two speakers. it's an older set, harmon/kardon, with one plug in the computer and the right speaker plugs into the left speaker set up.....I'm using RealTek HD audio Manager, with a Gigabyte MB (HD compatible)....
hum...let me go do some troubleshooting with my audio set up...could it be this simple? I'll apologize for wasting your time if it is.....check back later.

I'm an idiot....
I have no idea how the setup got to be a four speaker set up, nor do I really know how I found the control box which de-selected four channel setting, but there it is....works like a champ now...
I can't say thank you enough and apologize for not having a clue how my own computer is set up....
THANK YOU! I'm fixed now.....
