Logitech wireless keyboard working with VLC

Postby Ofird1 » 30 Sep 2005 22:57

After lots of long hours of trial and error,
I finaly figured out how to make VLC work with a logitech wireless keyboard,
So im sharing this with you :)
Open up the file
C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPoint\players.ini (or where ever the file players.ini is in your computer)
add this line in the [Players] section:

Code: Select all

VLC=key,vlc.exe,wxWindowClassNR,VLC media player,xxx, , ,S,P,N,0,1,VLC
go to the icon in the systray, close setpoint
run setpoint again (C:\Program Files\Logitech\SetPoint\setpoint.exe)

*Note: i tested it with setpoint could possible work in mouseware*

Aperently there is a bug somewhere that makes the play/pause button run twice so it only work when you want to play and not resume.
I wish VLC had a solution for a hotkey that only pauses or only resumes.

We have hotkeys for play only or pause only. (check the hotkeys preferences. they might be marked as advanced)

The hotkeys for "play only" works, but the hotkey for pause only, in addition to pausing also resumes, which is basicly the same as the space bar (which dosnt work)

I suspect the program sends the keyboard events to both windows or something. Which results in two events being sent to VLC. the only thing the pause event does is getting the current play status and inverting it. I don't think we have pure pause only anymore at higher application levels.

That could possibly be the problem, when I tried to find the wndClass and wndCaption

the only once i could find are wxWindowClassNR,VLC media player
and VLC DirectX video,VLC media player which dosnt work
Is this the main interface,
Perhaps there is another WndClass that could recive the keyboard events.

I tried to get VLC to associate with SETPOINT so I could contgrol VLC via my logitech wireless mediaplay mouse.

I did the following:

[Players]
VLC=key,vlc.exe,wxWindowClassNR,VLC media player,xxx, , ,S,P,N,0,1,VLC

[Players.Run]
VLC=path,C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\

[Players.Display]
VLC=VideoLan

Problem is if you hit pause, then try to resume it activates twice so you see play then pause again real quick on the VLC screen.

I have not seen any solution for this, does anyone know of one? updated setpoint that works, anything?

Thankyou!
